i've got almost 95,000 on my 2000 and it has held up GREAT no big problems at all,i've replaced the spider gears, but i went like 60,000 miles on the gear oil, with a leak(pinion seal) but other than that and the fact i need new plugs i've had no problems, and i run the sh*t out of this truck i drive it like a race car every time i get behind the wheel and it gets used like a truck it pulls it's own weight and a h*ll of alot more and it'll still stomp just about anything i pull up next to,they should put me in ford commercials to show what these trucks will hold up to again and again.

my 1997 f-150 has almost 139xxx miles and i cant see any negative signs of abnormal wear. it gets driven a lot on the interstates going to and from fire service teaching jobs. every once and a while i will get a small puff of smoke when cranked after i park it overnight or even two days later, from a 500 mile return trip home (i'm not sure if it is oil related or fuel injection regulation). the oil never drops more than 1/2 a quart between 5000 mile oil changes (has always done this, it seems to be normal).

248,000 miles on my 97. Engine and trans are all original. There have no major problems with either. The only major problem was that the bearings in the diff. went bad at 200,000. U-joints were needed at about the same time. I spent about $125 changing them all myself. The engine uses 1 qt of oil every 1500 miles, gets 15-19 mpg, and has cold start piston slap. The body and the interior look like they have less than 60,000 miles, but the lumbar on the drivers seat just broke (cable). The parts to fix it cost $60, but I haven't had the chance to change them. It's been a really good vehicle. I've probably only spent a little over $1000 parts and maintance since I've owned it
