Leaking from????
Taking my 1992 F-150 Flareside in for an oil leak tomorrow. Its a 302 w/145,000 well cared for miles....and the leak has gotten pretty bad.So bad that it leaks onto my crossover pipe and burns causing brown smoke to trail behind. Also leaves a nice stain on my driveway.Got under there trying to determine where its coming from.Oily halfway back of the oilpan and back.Maybe a rear main seal or possibly the oil pan gasket. What do they get for a job to replace rear main seal and oil pan gasket?Just dont wanna get the screws put to me on the labor.Thanks...Dave

Dave,
Oil doesn't leak up hill. If there is oil on the pan look up. That is where it is coming from. The pan bolts could be loose so check the engine block above the pan. If it is wet keep looking up till it is dry and you will find the leak. If the rear main was leaking it would not spread forward, against gravity and wind force, when the vehicle moves.
