I sense ans ulterior motive in this post.
Anyway, your truck has something wrong with it or your dad doesn't know how to spin a tire.
easiest: from a standing start turn wheels all the way to right then floor it.
2nd: hold brake pedal lightly down while laying heavy on the gas until you get a spin.
my truck is a 99 scab 5.4 4x4 with a heavy fiberglass cap and larger than stock tires and with the exception of a fipk the engine is bone stock and I can cook the tires no problem. (75k miles on it)
are you sure the tranny isn't slipping?
give us more info so we can help.

It's not gonna be a peppy as a 2wd pickup, there are more parts, its heavier, plus there are manufacturing differences. The power in the engine is directly related to engine tolerances, which of course vary. There is probly nothing WRONG with it, thats just the way it is. You can always chip it i suppose, as has been mentioned.

I've been in many stock F-150s that won't peel out with any engine. Sure a manual trans can spin when you pop the clutch. Most autos will at least slightly break lose a revolution or two when you power-brake them. 1997-1998 5.4s have less horsepower and 4X4s are heavier with larger tires.

You must have something wrong with it. My '99 4.6 will light the tires up like fire on gas. I have no problem burning out. And for surely i know my dads 5.4 liter easily burns those. You can be going down the highway at 10 or so miles/hour and step on it and sometimes get it to bark if it shifts down right. That 5.4 has ***** to the walls and there should be no reason why you cant light them up. Better get it checked out!!
