Ethanol mix fuel adds oxygen to combustion.
When the O2 sensors react to this, they add more fuel to bring the ratio to the design 14.7 fuel to air ratio.
End results is more fuel used than without the blend.
How the hell is that helping us, the enviorment or anyone else but the producers, marketing and making more money from us?
Science being used against us!
MTBE additive does the same thing.

Bluegrass - smooth explanation; thank you!

If Oxygentated fuel helps quality of life & reduces stress for people I will gladly support it. Before MN I lived 1/2 mile from highways carrying 350,000 - 500,000 vehicles each work day plus I can remember pre-1973 traffic fumes lingering way past rush hour & the 1960's NYC smog making it look like everything was under yellow streetlights at noon.

:::sigh::: Good luck on the milage quest!!

Thanks everyone for all this info, in regards to some of the questions:

:::I have new tires, but they are still the stock size

:::The car is running good NOW but before i got a tune up it was stalling around slow corners in my neighboorhood, and was really hesitant to move at all, but after the tune up it is running like a dream, a little vibration in the tires but that is just from a slight alignment issue.

:::The O2 i believe are the original, but i dont have any records at all from anything done to the car before i got it

:::a mechanic friend of mine said a cold air intake might help any experience with that from anyone???

Thanks again for all the help

I haven't had a cold air intake, but I have a K&N Filtercharger Injection Performance Kit II (FIPK II). It replaces the intake box with a 9" cone filter on a short intake tube. Even though it doesn't get much "cold" air (like the stock intake from the fender) it more than makes up for it in increased airflow. For a couple hundred dollars it was worth it. Definitely makes a difference in all around performance and throttle response (especially off-idle).

Bigtruck311, Your truck is very nicely set up!! My gallery is at: http://www.f150online.com/galleries/....cfm?gnum=2623
My truck has 5 years of hard work and designing to get it to this and it's my hobby. I did a great deal of the work, but have had some awesome help by fabricators and performance/off-road mechanics. Steve
