question on tuner chips?

What are some negative side effects of using tuner chips on gasoline engine trucks besides the several hundred dollars out of pocket and needing higher octane gas? Any damage to engine or other components or transmission?

No. A properly tuned chip makes the engine and automatic transmission function more effeciently. This adds power but under normal circumstances does not damage the engine.
