timing a 302?
Thank you so much to all of you great people. I followed several of your suggestions and ideas to get the thing running and I love the results so far. I modified the throttle body coolant line, did the air box modifcation and cleaned and checked all sorts of sensors and such. I think it was the MAP sensor after all was said and done. So big thanks!!! My question is on timing the thing ('90 FS Bronco 302) properly. Its the first time I've done it so heres what is happening. Started the engine to warm it up put the cables on in the proper spots and direction on the #1 wire pulled the shorting plug by the dizzy, rotor was just before #1 on dizzy, piston @tdc, timing marks set on 0 then put the light to it set it on 10*btdc tighten the holding bolt engines sounds/runs great ,but then, put the shorting plug back in and then the engine runs crappy put the light on and it reads 20*+/-. I pulled the plug and went right back to 10*. Am I setting it on the correct timing mark?? Thats what I have read from all of the threads. Is there something I am doing wrong?? I'm assuming this is not a normal thing for such a rough idle to the point of stalling out. I know your all smart enough for the answer but please humor me
