Angry 97 F150 Engine

The engine in this vehicle has seized up and won't budge. I've read several of the TSB and am just wondering if ya'll had any ideas on what the problem might be. This is my dad's vehicle and I'm not sure what it's doing except that he's looking at an almost $2,000 repair bill in the face to replace the engine. Any ideas??? Thanks for the help!

Does the engine have adequate oil in it?

Was the engine run for an extended period of time in an overheated condition?

Are you referring to the 4.2V6?

Pull all the plugs to make sure it's not hydro locked..... That can happen with either gas or coolent. If an injector hangs open, it can fill the cylinder with gas. If there's a blown gasket or a crack, then that's how the coolent could get in there.

If it's gas, it should be an easy fix. If it's coolent, then that's more terminal and depending on the cause, will be expensive to fix.

If it's seized at the crank, then it got oil starved for some reason or a bearing failed or it dropped a valve or it throw a rod......

Good luck!

Mitch
