Question about synthetics and weight

Hi new to the forum here, what a really great forum here with lots of information. I have a question about switching to a fully synthetic oil, and a little confused. I have a 1997 F150 XLT, 4.9L V8 with 61,000 miles. I have owned the truck for about 5 years ,always changed the oil every 3000 miles with havoline 5w30. I guess my first question is that to many miles to change to a synthetic without getting oil leaks. My other question is do I stick with 5W30 synthetic or go with maybe 10W30. Thanks for any help, Matt

There should be no problem with switching to synthetic. Use the same viscosity that your manual states.

Not a problem at that mileage.
Skip the 10W30
