Have a weird noise

I'm not sure where the noise is coming from, so I figured try here first since I am not sure it is engine related or not. Me and my fiance went on a vacation last weekend and drove my truck. While we were gone, I started noticing a weird noise. When sitting still idling with the brake pressed in and in Drive, it starts making a loud clanking noise. I can hear it really good with the windows rolled down. If I put it in Park, it still does it but not nearly as loud. Also if I turn the steering wheel in both directions, it gets louder and the quieter depending on the direction the wheel is turned. I haven't noticed the noise while driving. We drove about 200-250 miles back home and only noticed when we were stopped and idling. It was most notable in a drivethru window and that is probably because of the echoing against the building.

I don't want to drive it if it is a engine or driveline problem because I don't want to be stranded. Luckily, I have my company car that I can drive around.

Anyone have any idea where this noise is coming from? Whether it may be engine or drivetrain related or maybe something else?

When driving, everything seemed ok. It didn't seem any different. Just the noise when it is idling.

Oh yeah, a 2002 V6 Auto

I think I found the problem. I found a small hole about the size of a dime in my exhaust near the exhaust tip on the left pipe. I guess it is the bracket that is hanging next to it that was bouncing against the exhaust pipe that was making the noise. I got a piece of twine and tied up the little metal bar to keep it from hitting the exhaust. Now I just gotta get the hole fixed. I took pictures, but I couldn't load them to the photo gallery.
