Engine Treatments

I was wondering if any people had any advice on engine treatments. The ones you pour in your gas tank. Which are good and which are bad. What have you tried. Money is no object here. All I do is give mine the odd fuel injector cleaner, and sometimes some 94 octane pump gas, to keep her running clean.

Do a search for Sea foam it seems like people like it.
Running 94 will do nothing to clean her out, it is just harder for the engine to burn it.

Seafoam is one of those rare products that does exactly what it advertises. Not trying to start a ruckus here but if your engine has high miles and has not been well maintained, you may want to think twice about putting it or any other treatment in the crankcase. There comes a point in an engines life, particulary if not well maintained, that treatments of this type will free up alot of deposits doing more harm than good. If on the other hand your engine has a good service history have a ball. As for the 94 octane, you may actually be hurting performance if you run that, and, the lower octane fuels will keep your engine just as clean.

I looking for for something the gets put in the gas tank not the crank case. I want to stay away from putting stuff in my crank case. I do my oil change every 5000km or 3000 miles always at the ford dealer. I just have seen some of these treatments at Canadian Tire, soem that are over $100 for one can. I just wanted to know if they actually do anything. And what you would recommend. I never heard of Sea foam.

Seafoam, is a multiuse application. It can be used in the crankcase, gastank and drawn into the intake system via vacumn lines, usually the brake booster line. It works very well and is less than ten bucks per can. In the intake it works very well at removing carbon buildups from valves, pistons and injectors. It also works well in the gas tank to clean the entire fuel system, and is very effective as a fuel injector cleaner and lubricator and is safe for your cats and 02s. Best if used as part of a regular maintenance schedual, say every oil change. Do a search or ask around at the parts stores, good stuff!!
