i've got the 4.6 (i was driving a chevy 1500 with a 4.3 so just the fact that im back in a V8 is nice), i'm happy with it, but i'd rather have a 5.4, the price of the 5.4 kept me away.

In the end it comes down the 1) personal preference, 2) how much $ you want to spend, and 3) what fits the job of the truck to you the best...

Not everyone is going to tow a trailer and not everyone is going to stick their truck on the drag strip. People don't seem to think stuff through. Remember someone saying the Reg Cab 8' bed is the best setup because the 6.5' bed and the short bed on Screws can't haul a cubic meter of gravel... Well, that doesn't really matter because my truck will never be used for that...

Edit: ugh, Cubic Yard of Gravel... I'm starting to get use to the metric system since I use it so much now days

Ford certainly was dumb putting the 5.4 in the Lightning when the 4.6 was sitting there available.

What were they thinking?

Yeah, cuz I've never raced before. I've never owned 3 F150's in my life or never owned a 4.6 Mustang. I know nothing, you know all.

What is like, 300,000 against 1 on this?

I used to think that my 4.6 was pretty fast, till I swapped it for the 5.4. Unless you have had the same truck, not identical trucks but the same VIN, with the 4.6 and then with the 5.4 you are talking out of your ****. I did an engine swap from the 4.6 to the 5.4. The 5.4 is faster and works less to move my truck. I got better milage on the highway with the 5.4 than I did with the 4.6. When I take off from a light I need less pedal than I did with the 4.6. When I merge I don’t have to worry who is next to me. I can just press down on the accelerator and merge. So Faster150 I have just proven what everyone else here suspected, you are full of shìt. You can stop now.

Thanks JMC, I was wondering when you were going to be here to set the record straight.

It seems to me that i've read other posts where Faster150 is trying to preach crap that doesn't make sense....

You can not make the comparision of engine size and ignore technology. I ran a 351C-4V for years, and I got a lot of thrill out of my small block Ford beating the big block chevys. I could also beat a lot of 428's and every 390 Ford I raced. Different family of engine, fifferent technology. But, I have no doubt that the 4.6 would handle my Cleveland and get a lot better MPG while doing it. Totally different design and technology. But, the 4.6 and the 5.4 are same technology, just different size and stroke. All things being equal, I would bet on the 5.4 against the 4.6 every time.
