Help please
I have a 2001 F150 XLT.
Today, I will be changing the oil, myself, for the 1st time ever. ( Exciting, huh ) and just wanted to ensure I do it properly.
Im uncertain of the location of the oil drain plug, anyone know of a link that shows a diagram or pic?
2nd, is changing the oil filter absolutely neccessary when doing an oil change, and if so, where is it located?
I'd appreciate any help. Thanks

Crawl under the truck. There's a black pan with a bolt sticking out the passenger side, and its going to be angled toward the ground. Thats your drain plug.
Yes you need to change the filter. Its on the drivers side of the block. You should be able to see it easily enough when you are under the truck.
Replace it with the Motorcraft FL-820S, its one of the best filters out there.

I hope when he says he is changing the oil for the first time he means that he has had it done and this will be the first HE does it himself. Heck it's Ford tough it can take it. By doing simple things like oil yourself you can help offset what you are paying extra for gas. Let us know if you can't get it back together..
