OK, Time for some MODS!!!!
Well, I've had my truck for about 2 months and it's time for some MODS. I had a 2001 V6 F150 a few years back that was pretty modded up. Now I have the 5.4L subercab.
I'm thinking of doing EFans, Pullies, and CAI for the first set of mods. I really don't want to touch the gearing or computer yet. Whacha think????

Troyer and the xCal2 give you a new truck! my 2 cents!
I also went CAI and cat back... A great combo.

Basically I want some better gas mileage and some power improvement. In my experience removing parasitic drag is the best way to improve MPG. I know the xcal2 will do that too, but then I gotta put premium in it....EFF THAT. Yes I know you can get an 87 tune, but there is no point of getting a comp upgrade if you are going to use 87, which I am. So as I said, I don't want to touch the computer, so no gears right now either.
I don't even know why I posted this....just bored I guess. I knew everyone was gonna say get the xcal :/

There arent really any "basic" bolt ons that will give you much of what you want. Efans, pullies, exhaust, intake kits, those are your basic start points. Then get a chip (yes you have to get premium, but think about it, thats maybe $5.00 more per fill up, and as long as you dont drive with your foot down all the time you should see a better MPG increase with the chip than any of the other upgrades will).
IMO you should upgrade in this order:
Chip
Efans
Intake/Exhaust
Pully

Is it hard to install?

Just drain coolant, pull off the serpentene belt, remove pump pulley, remove old pump and install new pump, install belt, add coolant and you are done. 30 minutes max. Don't forget to use penetrating oil to loosen the old pump bolts and around the outline of the pump. After a few years they tend to get stuck.

Well, in my F150 screw, I added the Airforce one intake and a 18" stainless sido Magnaflow with the Magnaflow 2 into 1 factory Y pipe replacement. That is what Troyer said to add first. Next is the comp. but I am not going to do that just yet either. So I think the E-fan kit would be the next choice. I have not researched enough on the pullies. The exh added a little umph & sounds good but the AF1 could really be felt. I do not know if works that good w/out the exh, but that would be the 1st thing I did if I had to acquire another F150. Let us know how the E-fan install goes, and of course if it is a worthy mod at this stage.
Good Luck

I agree, if you can do something with the computer, (performance chip, Etc...), it will make it easier when you are doing the other mods.
