351 C...

I'mm looking for a older ford F-150 to use as a work truck, But any how heres a question.

81 F-150...truck is in nice shape, runs good, seller claims engine is a 351C, thier is no engine ID (sticker on valve cover) valve covers and block are painted Ford Blue, But I doubt 351 C were made by Ford in 81, or engine could be a transplant....To me it looks like a 351w with Blue 351C valve covers, I don't have the vin and I don't no were to look on the block For a engine ID number...
Thanks....

It probably is a windsor or it could have been originaly a 300 I-6, that was replaced with a 351c. they both use the same bellhousing bolt pattern. I did one of these conversions years ago and it worked out well. Take a closer look at that block. You may have a hot rod in your hands.

Were do I look on the block? I was 6 years old in in 1973, so I have no practical expierance to go by, just reputation..also it has a 2bbl carb which is not abnormal, would the firring order be stamped on the manifold and would it be diff. than a winsor engine?

Could be a 351M, they look like Clevelands but were phased out by 1982. A Cleveland never came in a F series pickup stock.

Big differences between the Windsor and Clev engines.
Valve covers are wider on the Clev, the front water pump areas is way different. The water pump mounting is a part of a block extension casting.
The C engine went out of production by about 1974 being replaced by the M series engines in 351 and 400 cu/inches.

Chevy ???? I don't care abought no stinking 350... Spark plugs are under the Chev V/8 ex mainfolds, and later vave cover gaskets, 1980 and up are not the same, I'm well versed in chevy's I'm try ing to figure out how to tell a 351 Cleavland engine By looking at it...I have owned a 429(no cJ ) 351W and a 400M and lot's of 302's, some info on the nent I foud say's the Cleavland engie has eight bolts on the value cover.

If you owned 351w and 400m then you already saw the differences.
