Supercrew with almost 30,000 miles, 5.4 with factory tires, 255/65/17, 3.55 LS. Mods are K & N drop in, Flowmaster 40, 2" rear drop shackles. Around Metroplex, 16.5 to 17, highway 19.1 driving 75 to 80. Just got the Edge tuner, will be interesting to see what the effect on mileage will be.

06 supercrew 4x4 lariat, with some mild mods and oversize tires. Before mods I was getting 14.7(as displayed on computer)mostly country road driving. after mods, only 133 miles logged(since mods) but numbers are dropping... display now reads 13.9 miles per gallon. I hope it levels off SOOON. BoB

On my stock 01 SuperCrew Lariat 4x4 with a 5.4L I'm getting 14.7. My driving is 10% highway, 3o% city, 60% windy back roads (I tend to have a lead foot on those).

I have only put 3k on my truck since last November. All city driving running back and forth to Home Depot or dirving it to work during bad weather - riding the ElectraGlide most of the time. During the past 9 months it has got 14-14.6 mpg. I took it out last week on vacation, mostly highway miles, and got 17.6 mpg running the AC constantly pulling a 16 foot boat for most of the way. I do not exceed the speed limit ( - less than 5 over) and do not hit the excellerator hard with the current price of fuel. I have 94K on the truck.

How is anybody getting that kind of mileage? My 06 Lariat supercrew 4WD with 20 inch wheels 3:73 rear end gets 10 miles in the city. My last supercrew an 03 got 15-16 in town but the new truck is way less what gives?

I only have 2500 miles on her and have yet to take a highway trip to to compare with, the sticker says 14-18 mpg and I know that probably high but gee 10 MPG

You answered your own question - 4WD with 20 inch wheels 3:73 rear end. Heavier spinning mass takes more fuel to turn. Those 20 inch wheels and 4WD are a lot of mass to turn.

My 06 Lariat SCrew 2WD with 18" wheels gets about 14 mpg in the city...That's driving it real conservatively though...

What's the best way to track Gas usage ??

Ok Guys...
Can you guys tell me what is the best way to track your gas usage..I started with I'll put so many gallons in then when Im down to needing gas again I'll see how many miles it took, but one thing led to another, and I wasn't able to keep up with it.. so I've had my truck now for a month and still not sure what I get..
I have a 97 xlt 4.6 with flowmaster dual exaust, K&N filter. New tires oh.. and I have 189k miles on the truck.. I just did the SEAFOAM and it did make the truck feel smoother. (lots of smoke of course) Let's see what it does....

Thanks..

I wanted to keep a record, so I get a receipt every time I fill up and I fill it to the top every time I buy gas. I write the mileage down before I drive off. I made a spread sheet in Excel where I record each purchase: it calculates miles driven since last fill up, gallans required to refill and average MPG. I make a note of where that tank full was purchased and how I drove on that tankfull, city, highway, any WOT, ect. It has been very interesting to see the results. I now have records for the last 27,000 miles.
