03 heads?

Did all 2003 5.4 engines get the new heads with the extra threads(to avoid the whole plug blow-out issue). Also has anyone with an 03 experienced the plug blow-out problem? Looking at a 03 F150 7700gvw with 30000miles on it and I'm still a little worried.

Apparently, some of the early '03 production trucks still used the 4-thread heads. If that truck was built later in the production run, you should be good.

But either way, I would not let this issue affect your buying decision.

i was worried also and even thought about attempting to sell the truck while i was at 80k. i have a 2000 5.4 so i do have 4 threads per spark plug hole. now i have changed plugs and its been a couple thousand miles. i really wouldnt worry about the blown plug i have the worst of luck and kno it! and yet it still didnt happen to me.

Thanks for the info. I wasn't too worried about it either until my buddy at work had his f250 5.4 spit a plug and they had never been touched.
