Toyota's sludge problem is linked to one source....to many miles on the oil. CHange it at 3000, never have an issue. Change it at 10,000 have all the issues in the world. And NO, toyota NEVER issued a recall.

The Saturn S series. These vehicles have a timing chain system that is very sensitive to clean oil because oil pressure is used as hydraulic fluid to ratchet up the timing chain tensioner. If varnish forms in the timing chain tensioner bore then this system can fail and the chain will become loose and eventually break. Dealers have gone as far as tearing out the normal service schedule (6000 miles) and leaving only the severe service schedule. If your engine is destroyed (under warranty) by a failed timing chain then the dealer will legitimately request evidence of oil changes. Unfortunately this problem usually won't manifest itself during the warranty period.
I guess Saturns should be considered a problem child as well.
So, no Toyota, No Saturn, Lexus is a division of Toyota so we better axe them too. And why, one more time, for years on end, did Amsoil refuse to get API certification when they claimed all of their products met API standards? You can't answer that, and you never have

Here's a thread from a dodge forum where a pair of Amsoil dealers admit that 25K changes are outlandish for most drivers.

Answered several times but you do not listen or care. Search past threads where I have already answered this.

http://www.performanceoiltechnology....oiltesting.htm

Clearly explains the API issue.

I have already gone over all the oils with you in a previous thread completely.
I showed you which ones were certified and which ones met or exceeded the API specs even if they did not have the voluntary starburst seal.

Remember from API's own site:

API’s Engine Oil Licensing and Certification System (EOLCS) is a voluntary licensing and certification program that authorizes engine oil marketers who meet specified requirements to use the API Engine Oil Quality Marks.

Key word being voluntary.

http://www.api.org/certifications/en...bout/index.cfm

http://eolcs.api.org/DisplayCompanyI...mpanyID=226450

Shows Amsoil is a liscensee.

Saturns problem has nothing to do with Amsoil either.

No arguement there. 25K changes are not for everyone. What does that have to do with your statement that Amsoil is snake oil? Would you use it if you changed it every 3k?

If it was cost efficiant, yes. I run full synthetic now, but it costs significantly less than what Amsoil runs. I have repeatedly told you its snake oil for the same reasons at that last link I posted.

1) No oil on this planet is worthy of 10 or more thousand miles
2) MLM--Multi Level Marketing is for pyramid schemes
3) A Bullchit warranty that no one could possibly even contemplate the complicatedness of from reading it on their website. There are so many exclusions and reasons for them to not honor, its as worthless as the paper its printed on. (A good warranty is like that of which Pennzoil now provides, which with 3500 or less mile increment changes with pennzoil products from a pennzoil oil change center warranties your engine for life against oil related failures.....which doesn't void your manufacturers warranty)
4) There claims of first in synthetic, and how they made their product. They simply relabeled some elses stuff and called it their own
5) The rest of the crap that we have discussed in depth over the years

So, even though some may call me a hypocrit, yes I would use it if it cost the same as other synthetics on the same drain interval of 3000 or so miles.

Amsoil is cost efficient if you use extended intervals. If you don't then it is expensive.

WRONG and has been proven in scientific tests run by many different companies including Mobil.

Wrong again. Pyramid schemes are illegal. MLM is not. Pyramid schemes have nothing to do with the "product" they sell only the money made by the small minority at the top.

Wrong again, We have gone over this warranty chit several times. All warranties have clauses including Penzoil's. The same burden of proof applies to both. It is the law.

Still Wrong. Dead horse. Everything you have regurgitated has been refuted or clarified. Just read all the previous threads because this one is the last one I will engage you on.

So you agree that it is a quality oil but just too expensive for your choice of 3000 mile intervals. Good enough for me. At least we came to some conclusion.
Cheers

Nobody puts that expensive crap in their truck except for a select few that know where to get it, and are willing to pay for it. And the people that use it, probably check their oil often, and keep it topped off. (minimizing problems) Also, they probably don't keep their truck long enough for it to break anyway. So amsoil probably never has a warranty claim.

Amsoil

[QUOTE=98Navi]Well aren't you just the intelligent alabama style moron of em all? I never knocked synthetics stupid, I stated the simple fact of it all.......Amsoil is snake oil. No major manufacturer will so much as touch it, there are no Amsoil lube shops (which if it was so great they'd be all over trying to get everyone to convert to it since its twice as much) and their exclusionary warranty covers them, not you, in the case of any issue. Congradulations, you bought into the Mantra full bore. I can't wait till you loose a motor and cry about it

Go easy on the reference to "alabama", please. That was beneath you.

Nevertheless, I am in full agreement with you. Here's where I stand:

Run Amsoil as the top-class, first-rate, high-tech, wonder lube that it probably is, and run it extended as recommended, and re-circulate all the contamination and dirt through your engine that accumulates with any oil. Change that filter at 5,000 miles or so, and circulate dirty oil through that new filter, which makes no freaking sense whatsoever.

I'd be willing to bet that Amsoil is so damned good as a lubricant that it never breaks down. Great.

But it gets just as dirty as anything you can run in your engine. That's one thing that hasn't been overcome yet, regardless of the quality of the oil.

It's like taking the daily crap. When it's time, it's time. Try going extended drain in that regard.

You'll blow some critical part. That's for sure.

WOW!! What a hate filled thread. Might I suggest the two of you never meet anywhere unless there is a large contingent of security on hand. Just agree to disagree and move on. This is oil you are talking about...not saving the planet.

I suppose if you continue we will all just sit back and continue to watch the fireworks.
