fuel filters need changing ever 60K or less. but it only takes one bad tank of fuel to mess up a filter.

What on earth could be the benefit of leaving the engine running when filling up?? A waste of gas, more pollution, added risk of fire/explosion (and probably against the law) not to mention the considerable risk of somebody jumping into your ride while it's running and you're in paying, and taking off with it.

Just curious.

Seriously fella, are you that inept? Here's how a typical fill up goes for me….get out of truck, insert credit card, insert nozzle, get back in truck, wait a few minutes then get out of truck, put nozzle back, secure cap and drive away. If the station does not have "pay-at-the-pump", then I go to another station. If I'm SOL and have to pay inside, then yes, I actually, seriously shut the buger off. As far as "wasting" gas, uhm probably not much more than it takes to start the motor. And AGAINST THE LAW ???? Where the heck do YOU live? Cuba? China? Some other communist state? Uhm, explosion? I would stand to wager that the odds of explosion from leaving the truck running are less than the odds from an explosion due to static electricity.

Get a clue, get a life, and not necessarily in that order, but thanks for the opinion.

I was thinking filter or stuck regulator, 95 302.

Yes its against the law to leave the motor running while refueling. Why, who knows. I do it all the time too.

As far as the problem, I'd bet on it being either a crank or cam sensor. Those are the worst problems from those two sensors. Sometimes it'll crank right back up, sometimes it will take several tries to get it cranked.
