A/C compressor pulley rattle.

ok so my 01 lariot has an annoying rattle coming from a plate in front of the A/C compressor pulley. I tried to see if the plate had any bolts to tighten it up but i could not find anything. I can also hear a loud vacume sound when i'm in my truck at idle. Do you think these two things are related??

Could your AC clutch be out. My truck did the same thing, but with a bit of smoke and odor. The plate of the front of the compressor rattled terribly.

I tried to spin the compressor by hand after I realized the clutch was bad and mine was locked up. I would bet your AC clutch is gone. If you could post some pics of what is rattling that would help. I just replaced my system from the firewall forward for about $550. I was considering just replacing my compressor, but I replaced my dryer and condenser as well. Try to spin the compressor by hand and if you can't, then the compressor is gone. If you can then you may get by with a clutch kit. I'm sure there are guys on here with more thorough advice. You may try the HVAC section as well.
