That's what I said... Even for the 4 pin wiring it's still $115ish. I went down the road to Etrailer and picked up their 7 pin kit for like $40 (I think).

My father in law needs one for his SD. Maybe I can use parts from his damaged one to build one for mine. He backed into something and broke his 7 pin cover and part of the fitting but his 4 pin is fine. We can split the cost.

Here is a 7-pin harness I got but mine didn't come with a mounting bracket. i see the new one does that I got from Superstition Ford Parts for I think $37 bucks.

The harness plugs into the fram rail on the drivers side of the spare. It also feeds the tail lights and has a split for a 7-pin and flat-4 plus a ground. Tow packages come with this harness.

Cool! I would need the bracket as well. On 2001 Screws the tow packages did not come with that harness. I have the full tow package on my Screw.
They only came with the 7 pin connector and a 7 - 4 adapter in a bag.

Thanks!

My father in law's bracket is a little bent but not beyond repair. His 4 pin still works but his 7 pin is damaged and the cover is smashed.

Your 2001 looks like it would use this harness which states:

Description: This 7-pin wiring harness assembly is made to plug into the factory wiring harness at the rear of your vehicle. The 7-pin design allows the use of trailers with electric brakes. Manufactured to rigid Ford wiring standards for years of trouble-free use. Includes a bracket for convenient attachment. Dealer installation recommended.

Iit comes with a bracket or at least states so in the description.

The one I showed was for an 06.

I wouldn't stop if I were you. IMHO there's really no need.

You'll get adequate cooling at speed, since it's extremely flat towing that you'll be doing.

But if you need to take a break to throw back a cold one for yourself, then by all means have at it

Jeremy thanks for the offer, but i went to temple this morning and snagged Paul's hitch out of his garage when he wasnt looking...

It pulled it fine, got a little warm at times and i cut the AC off for longer hills for more power a couple times felt like the trailer was a little tongue heavy and was pulling the truck around, Overall tho, very impressed with how the truck handled it (since Uhaul said it wasnt possible)

Unfortunatley we all have a little Jamz/Zaair in us
Ill post pics when i get back to waco.

yeh its hard to two with a lowered truck without it trying to be tongue heavy. also was is a true car trailor? or a moving trailor. cause the axel location on a car trailor is different it supports the weight more in the middle.
