Problems if set up correctly? None. Mandrel bent piping. Place an H or X pipe as close to the front end as possible (same goes for mufflers if you chose to run 'em) and keep the pipes 2.25".

Louder and more agressive tone, looks better (If done right, looks very sharp Better than just a chrome tip infront of the rear pass. tire or stock location). I need to get pics up of my exhaust/truck... And I didn't get an exhaust just for the power gains... I absolutely love the loudness/tone! I think it's funny when people get an exhaust just for the power... A system that's just a little louder than stock... Don't you wanna be heard?

So you enjoy possibly getting hassled by the "man" for a loud exhaust? I don't see the point of having a really loud exhaust, might as well take your stereo out because it's pointless.

Why pay more for an exhaust system that has no gain in performance? I guess to each their own on the "cool" look of a duel system.

Hassled by the man? I don't goose it late at night or early in the morning, or by a police station... I've never had a complaint, from anyone. Infact, the one neighbor complimented me on it. And I don't really see why you brought up the stereo in your arguement?... What were you trying to say there?

Pay more?

No. My exhaust system cost me under $350 from a "mom & pop" exhaust shop locally. Whereas a Magnaflow system from Troyer costs nearly 1.5x as much for a pipe, glasspack, and tip.

No gain in performance?

"on my 04 5.4 i did true 2.25" duals- x-pipe as close to original y as possible- 2 14x9 magnaflow mufflers as close to rear axle as possible- this was all mandrell bent ss 2.25"- i went this size to keep my velocity up and keep my torque high as my van weighs ~8250 lbs- the dyno numbers stock with stock 3" siso exhaust versus the exhaust and the tuner were night and day- as much as i praise the tuner , the xcal 2 alone did not give the massive flat tq gains from 2500 rpms to 4300 where it just starts to drop from 300 ft lbs- i believe exhaust done properly on these ford modular motors gains nice results- it sure did in my case- if it didn't, that 3" siso oem unit would have been back on in a minute- i feel you can gain as well - justremeber that the 4.6 tq curve is higher than the 5.4-phil"

"j-brew my scanner is broke but -stock to exhaust & x-cal2 upgrade-i peaked hp at 4200 rpms- from 178.9 to 207.2-[28.3 rwhp gained], and tq-@ 2500 rpms- 225.77 to 319.68 [93.91 rwtq gained]
the reason my hp is so low is the straw of the oem air cleaner it has to breathe through-since then i added an afe air intake for v-10 motorhomes - night and day difference on the top end- pulls so much harder up till 5200 - where before it signed off at 4200 rpms- next trip on the dyno i'll post new numbers -i firmly believe mike's theory on velocity- versus back pressure-phil"

"damn phil, you gained almost 94 rwtq on your van from the true duels and troyer tune?? and it is a 2 valve"

There's no dyno anywhere near me so I haven't had the chance...

I am not getting the exhaust and headers only for the performance gains. I enjoy the sound of the exhaust and I also enjoy the sound of my 10's thumping under my seat. It all depends on the mood I am in I just want to have the right setup that will not mess up my truck and make it run as efficient as possible.

ROFLMAO! So I guess the police in your town only hand out tickets late at night or early in the morning? It doesn't have to be a complaint that gets you a ticket, I'm sure the police can hear quite well in your area. I've been in enough 1/2 Fords and Chevy's with a duels and glasspacks to know that even at highway speed, it's very hard to hear the stereo. I don't know what your system sounds like, but if it "raps" under load, then I know exactly what it sounds like.

What would the same shop have charged you for a 3" single? Do "mom and pop" mandrel bend the pipes? Is your complete system stainless? Your comparing apples to oranges here. You don't think more pipe, another glasspack, and another tip in the Magnaflow system would be cheaper?

Oh right....if Phil in his van saw gains then everyone will see exactly the same thing. And this was over a "stock" 3" system. An aftermarket 3" single system will no doubt flow better and I'm going to go out on a limb here and say make more power just as Phil's duel system did.
