Unhappy Weird sluggish start Accel

It just recently started showing up. i would just touch the gas from the start and as it starts going it would struggle and sound like its working hard to get going, but if you give it a bit more gas it will pick up as usual. Once it gets up to speed no problems show. Its a 5.4 newer 2004 f150.

I cant figure out what the problem is.

One of the things i think it might be is the cat converter being clogged up. plus ive seen a huge drop in gas mileage and a lot of black carbon build up in the throttle body and in the exhaust pipes.

I also have the egde programer. im running it on level 3 which is suppoesed to run on 93 oct but i run 87oct.. could this be why im getting all this build up..

Thanks!

It could be part of the problem. Try either running the 93 gas or changing to a setting to 87 if possible. My hypertech III has such a setting.

Well you may have to get it cleaned now to remove that carbon build up you were talking about. I would check out the seafoam thread on here that is on the front page. It will give ya and idea on the route you should go.

Change your fuel filter too, if you did not change it already within 15k.

Why would you run 87 octane gas with a 93 octane tune? That's asking for engine damage.
