#2 Misfire Confusion!

Alright I know there's been a 100 different posts on misfiring but after changing the plug, COP, fuel injector, and the fuel filter it still misfires. The only other thing I could think of is replace the o2 sensor but before I waste more money and patience, I would like some input from everyone. Is there anything I'm not thinking of or should I just bring it in??

Swap one with two - chances are purdy good that you have a faulty "new" COP. Happens all the time.. Don't attack the O2's - their not the problem.

Check the wiring harness and make sure it's moved away form the AC accumulator.

Also check for rubbing on the harness - bare wires that ground out..

Does it misfire at all speeds or just at crusing at about 45mph.
Thats what happening to me and was told to change all 8 cop's plus plugs,I did that and truck still misses at 45mph in overdrive.
I no what you mean about losing patience I been there.
I would like to no what kind of shop I can bring it to (not a regular mechanic)like a diagnostic garage or something.
I wonder if ford would check it out and tell me what it is for a fee.
JOE

I don't think the person Joe Styles exists...

He's been told what to do about his problem many times and twice by me ..

He never listens and just copies and paste the same thing over and over again - a really annoying troll..

Get Lost!!!

I think I have extra COPs lying around somewhere, from when I switched them all out. I'll try putting an old one on and see if that will work. Hopefully it's just that simple.

Yea , that's what I would try first - But I have also relocated my harness as far away from the AC accumulator as possible - That thing can make your COP system go wacky.

What happens is when people replace there COPs for the first time , they nudge there harness a little closer to the accumulator accidentally.

That will cause misfires all over again - even w/new coils..

Good Luck

Just swapped the COPs and adjusted the wires for each COP and still misfires... so i guess i'll take it in on Tuesday (only time i can make it in). Any idea of what the problem may be after the work i did. just so I have an idea of what to expect and how muchi'll have to pay.

If the coil is fine - it's a wiring/harness fault or a bad injector that would be my guess.

Did you try a comp test? You could have had a follower pop off or a cracked valve spring. Did you check and see if you had power to the injector or coil?
