e fan temp switch

Ive been looking at getting E-Fans and i was wondering where the temp senser switch goes, does it just sit on the upper rad. house and "feel" the heat for temp, or goes it screw in somewhere on the intake? Or does our computer ( 5.4L 2v ) even have a e-fan switch built in?

Depends on the efan (electric fan) or more precisely the efan controller. They usually have a temperature sensing probe that fits between the radiator fins.

Oh and i forgot, is there a "fail-safe" with these set-ups?

Most of the kits for the F150 are dual fans, which depending on the configuration could provide some fail-over capability. But, generally if you start to over heat for any reason you pull over and find out what is wrong. The same fail-safe method used with a mechanical fan.

E-FAN switch

KID,

I have the Troyer kit and it has 2 fans and 2 controllers, each of which has a temp probe. These are installed in the radiator fins near where the top radiator hose attaches to the radiator. They just push in between the fins and you put a dab of blue silicone on them to hold them in place. You then set them up with a hand held point and shoot thermometer. The instructions that came with my kit were very good and easy to follow. However, if you don't have experience with wiring and the like, get someone who is to give you a hand.
Overall, though, it's not rocket science, so I think you'll do fine. Good Luck

I have an off switch that interrupts current to the controllers to turn them off for water crossings and individual on switches for each fan. The Troyer kit controllers have a blue wire on each controller to turn on a second fan and I use that to power an indicator light that tells me when the fan is on. If I see the tem. start to climb I had better see a light or I pull over and find out why that fan is off.
