when starting on a cool day, about zero degrees fahrenheit,my truck revs up to about 1800 r.p.m. briefly and then slowly idles down. This seems a little high for a cold engine.Any suggestions? 2001 F-150 Lariat 4x4 5.4L

This is VERY normal. Compare it to an OLDENDAY automatic choke. They do this for cold start purposes. They warm up and then idle down.

No worries!

I agree with KeithHatter. Mine does the same thing. Oil pressure builds very quickly so no worries.
