5.4 Build up

I'm going to build up my 5.4, and am looking for some tips. Should I keep the alluminum heads, or go with an aftermarket one. Also anyone have any good sites that has parts for the 5.4. I don't want to waste my time rebuilding and not get the best out of it. Honesty my goal hp is between 300-400, but that I don't care so much about as long as it has lots of torque. The factory is 335 ft. lbs, and I'd like to add at least 150 to that. So with that said any cams or any other parts that anyone has an opinion on is appreciated.

There is not an aftermarket head made for the 5.4. Best you can do is a port and polish job with a high performance cam.
Have it bored over and put all forged parts in it/with ported heads and cams. Then sit one of these on top.

With the right pulley set up you can make 450 500 HP.

Take a look here! It will help get you started!

a few more ques.

I found a nice torquey cam from comp cams, it's 350 bucks, but I like it. I'd like to throw that in with some domed pistons, what would be a good bore to look for? I don't want to go to high yet. Any kits that would accommidate the extra compression. And last the shop I found said he could build this for around 2800 bucks. Thats with parts, so with he extra's I'm throwing in that adds up, but does anyone think this is unreasonable. My last motor I did myself, but this time I have no shop and the army steals all my time away.

what cam?

I would like to know to, I'm looking at the 270 series, but I think it's more for HP than torque, best price I could get was $520 for a set

maybe this is the one...all I went by was the search of the site and go off what I get. This one seems more sensible, and more along the pricerange you were talking about.

http://www.speedunleashed.com/Comp_C...t-p-20850.html

still not the torque I'd like though, and I already went to the comp website and didn't like what I saw there. Sometimes I wish I was still working on my old 5.0.

sorta

I've done rebuilds, but never created an engine, so adding new parts is new to me. I have a shop, but I'd like to pick out what I want before I start tearing into what I'm driving now. I have money, about 5,000$ but don't want to spend more than 3,000$ if I don't have to. Thanks for the ebay link. I'm sure I'll find what I need and when I'm done...March time....I"ll post what worked and what didn't.
