Not.

The 97-98 4,6 has two on the pass side. See the two empty holes.

Yah I noticed that too, why does the 97 4.6 have two ECT's? Is it for an average of the ECT or do they act as failsafes for each other?

One is for the dash gauge and one signals the ECM. Two different types and PN's.

Ah so the one labled on the wire ECT is probably for the PCM (behind alternator) and the inlabeled closer one is probably for the dash huh?

Cool! and Thanks!

Yea, I thought they eliminated that sensor totally in 99 on the 5fours - But I could swear I seen one on a 01 5four w/plastic manifold - the sensor was on the passenger side in the aluminum cross over.. Well I'm confused as hell now!!

At what point did the CHT take over the responsibilities of the ECT ? Yep -confused

1997-98 had an engine coolant temperature sender for the instrument cluster and an engine coolant sensor for the PCM. In 99 they dropped them and info was taken from the CHT for the PCM. The PCM sent a signal to the instrument cluster with an inferred temp reading.

For the record - 97-98 had a CHT as well as the two ECT's.
