minimum CFM for E-fans

I have a 2000 with a 5.4. want to put in E-fan kit. I found a flex-a-lite kit model #220. it's a low-profile kit that I might work well with trying to fit my intercooler piping. I am just worried about its puuling power, its rated for 2500CFM. Do you think it's enough?

My ONE fan is rated for 2500, both are 5000cfm. So......

Yes, one fan is enough to cool the truck, but when your are moving slow with no airflow over the radiator, one may not cut it.

That's WAY too small. It's primarily designed as a booster fan to add cooling to an overloaded system which retains the stock fan. For a stand-alone you should be looking at something like the FAL 270 rated at 5500 CFM

yeah I found a kit for $160, so I figured I would pick them up, but looking into it they are only 12 inch fans, when I originally thought they were 15 inch.

the 270 kit looks like the right fit, guess I just keep saving pennies for now. so all in all we should get a min of 5000cfm to replace the existing belt driven fan right?

Looks like a nice set up, I will go to the wreckers on the weekend and see if they have anything. I wasn't going to go that route because of the need for a controller. but the link provided looks like a nice controller. I was thinking of a simplified method of activating it using a thermo switch on one of my old polaris quads, and having it on the low amprage side of a solenoid activating it and have the fan power on the other side, if I remember correctly it turns on at 170 celcius. then have a switch if you want it on all the time. the bonus being that the thermo switch screw right into the drain bung.

I like the Troyer kit, but I heard of a few with electrical fires and such, possibly the way they were installed I guess, I also didn't like the idea of running rods through my rad. I think that has changed now, but I'm not sure.

It would probably be about $550 landed by the time it got to Canada.

You would be cheaper with the DCcontrols kit. And the fan is soft started to eliminate currant spikes....

That looks really sharp! Which controller did you get, FK35,50,60, etc....?
Did the Lincoln fan come with the shroud? Again that looks really good.

I am using the Troyer kit with my own mounts.

I also did some creative "plumbing" and routed the pipes between the frame and the body. So when I go off road the pipes will not get smashed. If I remember correctly I used the elbows from the driver side on the passenger side and had to cut a couple of the longer pipes. I should take pictures....

The Lincoln kit is one fan at 4300 CFM.

The Troyer kit is two fans at 2775 CFM each, totaling 5550 CFM when both fans are on.

I have also heard that the Troyer kit is more expensive. However, I bought them anyway and I'm quite happy with the product.

I haven't heard anything about electrical fires. It's hard to say. Some fires are caused by bad parts. Other fires are caused by incompetent installations. The logic being that if all of Troyer's kits had faulty parts and/or design, then we would all have had fires.
