I would just use the squirt bottle method - That way there's nothing to worry about. I have most of my sh^t back @ the MI shop, but I do have 3 compressors down here in Indy w/me. You can borrow one if your not to far away. I set up a make shift shop for now down here..

problem is, I cant really see where the air leaking from, I can feel it, but cant see the area. I tried the soapy water while it was running, I filled the bottle up with the hottest water my house can pump out, and it still just evaporated as soon as it hit the manifold or head.

No thanks on the comp test, I can take it into school. I just dont want to pop plugs out

Pop the plugs out ? Your not thinking straight - With a compressor, you can regulate the flow via regulator. That's why I say dial it down to 15 lbs - It won't be enough to push any debris, but it will be enough to leak test.

No, you don't leak test while she's running, you do it cold so you can work on the damn thing

It works the best and WILL reveal and pinpoint every leak you have in the system.

The ways you speak of about discovery isn't the way to go IMO. - This is the simple way that works and hurt anything.

Do what you will, trying to help.

I thought you said compression tester. Hence taking spark plugs out. Sorry.

So, I have an air compressor, and I also have a BIG shop vac, and a tiny shop vac. I'm thinking the tiny shop vac would work best. I can affix it to the exhaust pipe and turn it on, pressurizing the system and spraying the soapy water. I will do this tomorrow.

That's your new manifold right - Did you have a hard time with any of the bolts ? Stripped maybe ? Is the exhaust under any stress ? Anywhere ?

What are the possibilities of a warped head? That is where one of the original bolt was missing, was down on that corner. And that lip on the old manifold was badly burnt.

Yes, no manifold. And no problem with the bolts. Everything snugged up great. no stress by the collector, everything bolted right up

No not compression tester - I hope I didn't say that..

Like I said - shop vacs will shoot more pressure than needed for this. That's why I use a compressor, dialed down to 15 lbs or so. If you don't have a regulator on yours , there pretty cheap at the home centers . Maybe 10 - $20 for a cheapy, but that's all you need for this.

You can attatch a home made relief valve to your shop vac if your set on using that. You don't need much pressure to detect a leak with soapy water on a cool exhaust.

it might have something to do with bolts in the manifold or the lockwashers and flat washer that are being used together. or small head on the bolt compared to the lock washer. just throwing ideas your way. good luck

still should be no pressure on the washers or bolthead itself.

What about the AC compressor leaking? I charged it a month ago, and its still cold, so I dont know if its kicking air out or what
