Power?

I've got a 2003 Ford F-150 XLT Supercrew 5.4L V8 with 54,714 miles on it. I want more power. its completely stock. 260hp/345 tq.lb. i curious which would be the better choice. New 351 crate engine producing 420hp/495tq.lb.-$6,795. Or a vortec supercharger system-$4,616, putting my engine from 260hp to 375hp and 345tq.lb to 441tq.lb?

The vortec is probably a bolt on kit with injectors and like parts for a neat and dependable mod. Changing to a completely different engine that never came in this truck could be a major undertaking besides the extra 2k. Too nice of a truck to hack on the vortec gets my vote.

Your best option would be to put a Lightning intake assembly on it!

Is the crate engine a 5.4 Modular that was poked out to 5.8 or is it a 351 Windsor cam in block engine? Loose the Vortech and get an L swap.

Some efans , tunes and higher gearing would give a little extra power and torq.

If you are after gobs of extra power consider the Vortec or a Lighting mod.

Or sell it and buy another car or truck.

A windsor swap really isnt practical besides the modular is just better. Learn about your truck you obviously dont know much about it. It can be more powerful.
