Low RPM miss - 2005 4.6L
Hello Everyone,
I recently had my number two spark plug blow out and I repaired the head with an insert from Pep Boys. I J-B welded the insert into the head to ensure that it too would not blow out.
After making the repair, I replaced the spark plug, coil pack and the fuel injector for that particular cylinder. The reason why I replaced all those items was due to an error code of P0302.
It stated a misfire in that cylinder. I also was experiencing a low RPM miss.
Well after all of that replaced and fixed, I still have the Low RPM miss that goes away after the RPM goes up. It is when it is idling and when you start to accelerate - once you get the RPMs up the miss goes away. The truck does seem to have loss any perofrmance in the higher RPMs.
Does anyone have any ideas or tips?

Tune up - Yes it has by Ford about 20,000 miles ago
Fuel FIltwer has been replaced
THe plug blew iutself out - the typical Ford problem, threads completly gone.
Don't know the engine idle speed.
The Insert is from a kit - OEM Thread Repair System - #25647 http://www.oem-tools.com/product_inf...oducts_id=1607

Yes I did - and my reseach on this shows that the 4.6 is a problem engine - the dealer changed the plugs 20,000 miles ago

The updated heads were employed on the 2004 and newer model 4.6 engines. Yours is the first i've ever heard of a blown plug on a 4.6 after MY 2004. I'd be more inclined to think the dealership didn't torque the plug correctly when replacing and there's your blown plug. While I am a fan of the Triton series of engines, there have been far too many issues with them. I think I'll keep my 04 until they come back with the new OHV engines. The OHC engines have been a farce so far. Or I could buy a Chebby!
