Modular Engine Phase out!

The 5.4 in its normally aspirated form may not be the most powerful engine and it has had its design flaws (spark plugs) It is powerful enough though for it applications most of the time and it is extremely reliable. Very smooth engine. I look forward to the new engine design but its not like I feel Ford dropped the ball with the Mod motor. Cutting edge technology involves risks. I'm glad Ford take those chances. I think Ford trucks are better because of it. GM and Dodge are running the same basic engines they have for the last 50 years. Ford isnt.

I never had a problem ? This Modular design has lasted me over a 1/4 million miles . - I wouldn't call that flawed. You must be talking about a three valve or somthing? Hell Idunno, - you have over 200 posts and still haven't filled your info in

What manufacture does warranty forever? I agree Ford had some design flaws with the modular but in most cases the gains outweighed the bad things. I have 2 2v engine that run as good as new (almost) with 335k between them. Both have nearly all the parts on them that came out of the factory. I've had a few Chevys and Dodges in my day along with a few imports and none of them have been more reliable.

So Ford is phasing out the Modular...... The first one appeared in what,1992? For a 281 - 330 cu in displacement they can make impressive numbers. More power than the 5.0 - 5.8 that they replaced and better fuel economy. The only real hindrance is the bore spacing. The 6.2 should fix that. While all the others can claim better numbers Ford can claim better sales....... Which would you prefer?

Where are you guys getting the info on the 6.2? All I've read is that it won't be available in the F-150 unless it's a Raptor, otherwise superduty only. On another forum, one of the guys spoke with a Ford engineer and asked him some questions, he said the 6.2 would probably be available as a crate motor, but doubted anything besides the Raptor. Heres a link to the thread: http://classicbroncos.com/forums/sho...=136792&page=2, post # 18. I hope we will see it , but it doesn't sound like it.
As far as the 5.4 goes, my 2000 F150 went 120,000 without any trouble, and I've got my fingers crossed on my 06. I've no complaints, even though it's underpowered compared to C***y and D***e, its still a lot more truck all around.
