threw a code today

p0402 if i remember correctly, egr (dfpe) excessive

i read if i change my dfpe sensor this will take care of it, true??

usually the best place to start.

remove the line you see going to the top of the egr. crank the truck and stick a straw or tube over that hole. suck on the other end of your device. if the idle changes you need a new egr.

* The DPFE (differential pressure) sensor is faulty and needs to be replaced
* There is a blockage in the EGR (most likely carbon buildup)
* The EGR valve is faulty
* The EGR valve may not be opening due to a lack of vacuum

There's the possibilities.

No, that means the EGR valve is fine.
