4.6 - Lightning 5.4 swap TOO many questions!
k guys i have a 97 supercab 2 wheel drive and i want to ditch my 3v 4.6 for a 2v 5.4. i lined up a 2001 lightning supercharged motor+tranny, all of the wiring harnesses and ecu's i would need to switch, gauge cluster, intake, blah blah blah let's just say i have everything i would need make this project work...BUT, is there anything else i need to make everything fit under my hood?? like motor and tranny mounts?
here is a picture of everything i will be purchasing:
also, if i do complete this motor swap like i plan to, would long tube headers fit on my ford if it already has a 3/4 drop?? or would i not have the clearance and be forced to go with shorties?
would love as much info as i can get thanks!

1) headers should be fine, no clue why your worried.
2) i believe the mounts were interchangeable, i didnt buy motor mounts but i personally didnt change my trans.
I dont see: Fan shroud (mounts intercooler reservoir), mounts for the intercooler's heat exchanger, fuel pump unless i'm overlooking it,
fyi, 97's were 2v 4.6. I would recommend buying a aftermarket crank pulley assembly so you can up your boost ring that way.

lmao...umm 2v sorry. messed up typing too fast.
ok so bassani long tube headers will fit?? just making sure i don't want to have to spend a grand on headers just to find out my truck is too low for them to clear space.
so i would need new transmission mounts?
and i'll talk to the guy about those parts just to make sure those items are included, i want to make sure i have everything right now so i won't have to run around for those stupid little bits and pieces that just frustrate people.
also, would an entire rear end from an 01 lightning bolt right up?
my current trans has no reverse which was the basis for this entire swap lol why spend the money on a rebuilt 4R70W when i can get a used 4R100 with a 5.4 supercharged triton included... so i would take your second option... what's the best way to shorten a driveshaft?

yea the axles and mounts are the same, im not sure if the pinion is a little longer on the bigger rear end or not, but if you are going to shorten your driveshaft that wont be a big deal
I would let a profession driveline shop do the shortening, a place that does that sort of thing daily, should only cost about 100 with new Ujoints too

Wow,,that is one clean looking motor! Is it new or just very low miles?
I'm pretty sure the motor mounts are the same but you will need the cross member for the 4r100.
I had a two piece drive-shaft made for my truck (to long of distance for one piece after removing the T case) at this place. They do great work. http://www.dennysdriveshaft.com/index.html And you will need the bigger 4r100 trany yoke on the drive-shaft.

because it should actually be less distance then my truck has on it since the 4R100 is longer then my 4R70w

After I put in the 4r100 they probably could have made me a one piece but I just had the two piece shortened.

My truck came factory with a one piece. You didnt say, but i assume its from the power increase, that is the concern right?

You need the 4r100 cross member! The tranny bolts to that.
