wet coils in winter time?

both my brother and couzin have f150s, my brother a 2001 supercrew and my couzin a 2000 extended cab. yesterday they both had problems in the snow with im guessing coils getting wet, or so i was told. ive been looking at a 99 F150 but after those 2 trucks having the same problem im kind of skeptical. has anyone else ever had this problem? or anything like it? if you have any idea as to what causes it or an opinion or questions let me know! thanks!

its not a problem if the coil boots are lubricated with dielectric grease. Its just an odd coincidence these 2 trucks have the problem at the same time.
