Assistance por favor? :))

Okay, well I have been wanting to "beef up" my poor 4.6 for awhile now. I had always wanted to put a 5.4 in it, but its not going to happen. I have been checking out all the searches for the PI heads and all of that jazz, but nobody has actually followed through with it. I am wondering, if any of you could give me a decent guess-timate on how much it would cost to get them machined. I have about a grand I am going to spend on the engine. I figured it would be easier then doing the whole 5.4/trans/driveshaft/rear end swap. I wanted to run comp cams depending on the price and I dont know which ones I should run. I was told by a guy at a performance shop that getting PI heads and intake with a set of cams, a CAI, and some e-fans would really wake the truck up. I dont know much about e-fans at all and yes I have done the search.. I mean brands/types/things like that. I was hoping.. asking.. if maybe a couple of you guys could shooot some opinions/suggestions/do's or dont's my way

He also warned me of having to run higher octane fuels.. which I am fine with.

I am in the middle of doing a PI swap on my 98 4.6. You will need a set of PI heads, and upper/lower intake. You might take a look at the thread I created..

https://www.f150online.com/forums/v8...take-swap.html

I don't think anyone in my thread mentioned the rise in compression because of the PI piston vs non pi piston.

Thanks for the link man! I was told that there would be like a 10:1 ratio IIRC. And that minimum of 89 octane would have to run in the truck at all times.. idk. I am wanting to get PI heads and the intake and get them machined and all that and drop a set of cams and new springs in them. I need to figure out what kind of cams I would need.

Would that work on a 98 4.6?

No sir.. I would have. Called a couple junk yards locally and almost all the heads are out of crown vics and the guy told me to make sure I get the truck heads and plenum. Soo I am "headless" . Found a guy who says that he has them and he said $125 a head "guaranteed against flaking/cracking.. yada yada yada."
Gotta go tomorrow and ask about them.
