You have 235 HP stock. Tell your buddy's to hook up to a carhauler = to their own weight, - you do the same. Now race them side by side. That's the difference. You have truck and it does what it's suppose to, - very well and it will keep doin it....

The only way your gonna get 285 at the wheels is with a roots blower kit or a pro-charger system.

dont worry bout extra horsepower, your truck will run 2x longer than your buddies chebbys. Then you can be obnoxious about how your truck is still on the road and there's are sitting in the shop getting fixed.

Remember the old cliche "Speed costs money, how fast do you want to go?"

You start modding, and you'll sink in a bunch of money that you won't get back...

lol thats a great video..... my 4.6 gets smoked by chevy 5.3's(?) I cant do nothing with them, but you work the exhaust on the truck and it sounds like a drag car lol. they dont mess with me alot anymore. my supercrew weighs 5000lbs and can almost double the pulling weight. who cares if they can out run you. just remember, you can pull more than they can and will last alot longer. hasnt been the #1 truck in the world for 35 years for nothin. just make it look good and sound like it could run 10's lol. as long as your happy with it, thats all that matters. JUST HAVE FUN!!!!!!

im 18 and i work my butt off everyday so my budgets however hard i wana work to make money cause i get all the hours i want and when i was eight i was tearing apart a 76 ford and rebuilding it with my dad then for my 16 bday i got a 89 f150 (GREAT TRUCK!!) and i pretty much tore it down and made all the repairs it needed by myself put a flowmaster exhaust on it everything the baby sounds like a mustang i still got it.. then i got the 97 and i put y pipe dual exhaust on it. im bout to take the pipes off and put jba headers and true duals and drop them off at bout the doors, should give it a fierce sound and true duals increase hp and mpg idk bout the headers.. so id say im decently inclined, if not my dads an x mechanic and he helps out on alot of stuff

Yes, you can do either one of those, - you can even turbo charge, if you want.

The easiest route is to plant a salvaged lightning motor a few feet from the go pedal. That Chevy would fall apart trying to keep up to yuh. - I just seen a Harley for sale earlier.. I'll see if I can find it... .... Here yuh go ~

Then you wouldn't need to brag. Here's the specs on that one -

The 2003 Ford Harley-Davidson™ F-150 :

Supercharged 5.4-liter SOHC Triton™ V-8 engine, - 340 horsepower at 4,500 rpm and 425 foot-pounds of torque at 3,250 rpm.

Yea, you could probably swing a good deal on that one. If you wanted to put it in a 4x4, you could sell that 4R100 that's behind it and offset the cost a little, -or use that cash to build your 4x4 trans. You'll need to beef up a 4x4 trans or it won't last lol.

Engine looks dirty, - doesn't mean anything other than a better deal. Their easy to make look purdy.

Still, I'd have to see it in person first.

that motor has been spin hard (see the aftermarket crank pulley) and single blade Throttle body, plus it has not had an oil seperator so the i/c core is caked in baked on oil

it'd be cheaper to find a used centrufigal system, but our OP would probably not like paying for premium unleaded at the pump as forced induction requires

More HP

I've been away from this site for about five years but I have driven numerous Ford cars and trucks. I might even get flamed for this... As someone mentioned earlier, how much are you looking to spend?

I would start with:
1. a good tune-up using Motorcraft or Autolite plugs
2. a complete fluid exchange, a new fuel and air filter
3. the "Gotts" air intake mod
4. a good cat-back exhaust (The y-pipes on that generation F150 are a disappointment at best. A good exhaust shop can cut the exhaust at the factory y-pipe and install a 2.25" x-pipe with a couple of Magnaflow 4x9x14" mufflers and mandrel bend tubing that will make it sound and perform a lot better.)
5. Electric fan kit
6. BBK Underdrive pulley set

Still require more power? Break out the wallet and look for a Supercharger or Turbo kit.

Good Luck...
