Exclamation 2001 Lightning with ticking noise and codes P0402 and P0171

I have a 2001 Ford Lightning SVT with a tick on driver side.It has codes p0171 and code P0402. It runs great with no performance problems, just an irratating tick at idle or park. I have changed plugs, coils, and EGR valve with no change.I don't believe it to be cam phasers from what i have seen in different forums. Maybe VCT solenoid? If anyone can help, it would be appreciated. Thanks.

Exclamation 2001 Lightning with ticking noise and codes P0402 and P0171

I have a 2001 Ford Lightning SVT, with a tick on drivers side. It runs great with no performance issues, just a tick that drives me crazy. It has codes p0171 and code p0402. I changed plugs, coils, and EGR valve, with no change in sound. It sounds like a exhaust leak. It only happens in park or idle, not when driving. Could it be a VCT solenoid, or maybe something else? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks guys.

#1 you don't have a variable timing cam

#2 you have an obvious exhaust leak and it's dumping fuel in there trying to compensate for it and you're either washing downt he rings/ cylinder walls or fouling the new plugs

#3 stop driving it until you can afford to have the exhaust leak repaired

You don't have VCT or phasers. Those are only on the 04+ 3 valve engines.

Are you sure the plugs are torqued properly? A loose plug will tick until it blows out of the head.

P0171 is a lean code and P0402 is an EGR code. You have something going on there. Your EGR valve may be sticking open a bit - whether it's the valve itself or something that's controlling it, you have to investigate that. Pull the vacuum line off the EGR valve at idle - any difference?
