Intake questions...
Tell me if I'm wrong...
Wouldn't any inlet larger than the throttle body be a waste, since the biggest restriction would be the TB? Why then are FIPK's so popular in our case, when we could simply pull the restrictors and slap in a K&N? I was just wondering, because I had modified my intake to a 3" cold but went ahead and cut the airbox so I had a heat shielded "open-element." I really didn't notice a gain over the 3", and now that it's 98 degrees here, I've noticed a horrible decrease in bottom-end. Just wanted some input on this.
I've read that while moving, thiers plenty of fresh air moving under the hood, but where does it come from? I don't think any can blow in between the hood and the grill, because the hood is "molded" over the top of the radiator, so it's not a straight shot at all. I just wonder, in case I should cut the top of front of my airbox to let in fresh air. Are their any other cold intake options avail. for us?
Does anyone have the fender side stock airbox for a 2000 / 2001 4.6 / 5.4 avail. if I pay shipping?

Can't help you on the stock system Jackal, I'm keeping mine on with only a couple small modifications to it. Primarliy to retain the cold air intake function of it, just open up the snorkle from 2.25 " to 3.25". When I get my new filter I'll click some pictures of my handformed aluminum snorkle so you can see it compared to stock (200% more flow capacity) and the new filter.
