Shutter, Jerk, Skip who knows?

For starters, YES I've searched and read other threads, but can't seem to get a fix for my problem. Although this may sound like others, hopefully someone has experienced this and found a fix.

While driving to reach 40mph, then left off the gas ever so slightly to maintain the 40mph, my truck feels as if it's sputtering, jerking or skipping. It will do this until I press harder on the pedal. I was pulling a trailer this weekend and noticed it even more. Without pulling the trailer, it's random, some days it happens and some not at all. When this happens, the RPM's don't drop and NO error codes were found.

I've changed the fuel filter and it's still there. Next is plugs, since I'm around 90K. Is this going to be a nickle & dime project or is it time to trade in? Other than this, the truck runs great!

As posted Many times, that sounds like a low grade misfire problem.

Usually more pronounced right after the shift into OD under normal acceleration.

It's a 2005 5.4L 90K miles.

I'm getting the plugs changed this weekend, as well as changing the transmission fluid.

I'm hoping it's just the plugs and nothing else. Sure would hate to get rid of it and start the whole truck payment thing again.

Sounds like a coil, but yea, -sell it, if it's not the plugs.

As much as I hate to, it looks like I'm leaning towards a trade in. Truck has been paid off since 08 and I'm loving the no payments. But, before I do, I'm changing the plugs this weekend. Does anyone have a suggestion on what to go with? Don't want the OEM! Anyone with a brand and part #

OEM's the best route. You search that one out as well ? Man, maybe someone else should work on her, - your over loaded with good decisions.

Just sayin, - might be a benefit.

Have you researched the issues in changing the plugs on a 3V? It's not straightforward at ALL.

Yes I have and I have no intentions of changing them myself. I've got a good mechanic doing it for me. He's got the tool to remove them if they do break.

That's the best bet, then you don't have to deal with purchasing the tool and learning how these come out lol. A bad joke, from Ford.

COPS and Injectors

Replace the COP's while you have them out and take it to the Dealer for a check on the "2005" Injector problem. Have you replace the FPDM yet?

I've read on here before that a COP could be the problem, but no codes show when it was hooked up and checked, so I was told that it wouldn't be a faulty COP.

By the way, what is FPDM?
