I can get 18.5 mpg and the absolute lowest I got was 15.5 mpg and that was on this past 4th of July weekend. I was pulling two fourwheelers or a fourwheeler and a boat the whole weekend and even went mudriding twice.

DarrenDude: I get a solid 17mpg with my bad case of leadfootitis
For the rest of you guys with the big V8: one of the reasons I got the "little" V8 was the gas milage. But if Ford had offered the 5.4 in a 5speed I would have got it instead

kkirt1, read what I posted under computerchips under the thread "superchips and fuel economy" for the conditions which I got 18.5 mpg. I think it is on page two of the "superchips and fuel economy" thread. My truck is bone stock, but my k&n should be here today and within the next two weeks I will be ordering a superchip and I will eventually get a 40s flowmaster. Maybe all of these things will improve gas mileage. When I get over 18 mpg I would say that my driving style is normal. I ease in the throttle when I take off, I go 5 mph over the speed limit. The nearest store or town is 30 min from my house so I get a pretty long run whenever I go some where. Sure I get into it 3 or 4 times a day but I have such long periods of cruising to town it averages out the gas mileage in between 16 and 18. When I get 18.5 I only floor it about twice a day, just to pass someone or something. On the weekends my mileage stays closer to 16 because I haul hay, or hook my dads tractor to go to our hunting camp to clean up, or take a couple of fourwheelers to go riding. Right now I bet I am not getting good mileage because I just moved to this college and it only takes 2 or 3 days to get deprived from my truck so I go ride for a short while but I make it count by running it hard. Yes alittle barking of the tires and a few burst of 4500 rpms makes me feel all better so I can go back and hit the books with a clearer mind. Though all the time thinking I will be glad to be out of college with a job to sink some big $bucks$ into it. Right now it is hard so save up for modifications since I work a semester and go to school the next.

Darren dude, I'm glad you mention the speedometer thing. Yes it is wrong but it hurts my mileage figures. As I mentioned above I moved to a college. My girlfriend has a 94 Honda Accord and her mother has a 96 suburban. They pushed the odometer buttons in their driveway and drove nonstop to this college, to her dorm. They both read 226 miles but their tenths were different by a couple from each other. They brought her things up here a week in advance and left her car here. The following week I went up there. I zeroed my odometer in thier driveway drove not stop to this college and dropped her off at her dorm. My mileage read 217.4. Either my trucks odometer is wrong or both of theirs is. I didn't check my gas mileage on this trip but for example say that I used 13 gallons of gas to get up here. My gas mileage would have been 16.72 mpg. Now if my odometer would have read 226 I would have gotten 17.38 mpg. So if my odometer is wrong I am actually getting better mileage than I am computing. I always use the mileage on my odometer and I do not try to correct the numbers.
