Just a short query to the 5.4L's out there- when your beast starts up, does it rev abnormally high for a second before it regains its composure and quiets down? Can't give you my rpm's when it happens, I'm usually too bleary-eyed in the morning when I first hear it....

About 1800 rpms.
5:30am every morning, hehe.

Mine revs up to 2000 every tiem I start, I think it's kind of weird, I have the 4.6l engine.

If it is not reving to 3-4,000 then it is very normal. I think my initial rev is between 1,800-2,300 rpm. Really cold mornings will bring higer initial engine revs.
