Throttle body cleaner

I have and 05 5.4 with 114000 miles. I am getting about 12 MPG. I have been told that cleaning the throttle body will help with fuel economy and that using Sea-foam will also help with fuel economy. Has anybody ever done either one and did it help. And how and what did you use to clean the throttle body with? And has anybody every added sea foam to the oil or transmission fluid because I have been told that helps with MPG

For starters seafoam is crap.. Cleaning the throttle body involves physically removing it and at 114,000 miles your truck will run better afterwards. it will also run better if you do allot of other maintenance items its due for like plugs changing out the front o2 sensors stuff like that. I use throttle body cleaner I get at any auto parts store.
Finally that truck, new only got around 15 MPG. Dont expect allot of improvement.

Do not use any oil or tranny additives. Use only 5w20 oil and Mercon V tranny fluid. Remove the throttle body and clean it with throttle body cleaner, and put a bottle of Techron in the gas.

SEAFOAM is snakeoil....don't use it

use chevron techron, gumout with regain, or berrymans b12 in the gas tank....

most autoparts stores will carry throttle body cleaner....also get some maf cleaner and clean the maf too....

no.....

remove air intake tubing....

remove 4 bolts(10mm?) to get the air filter box off the intake....remove and clean the maf>>drivers side....theres a vacuum tube that also needs to be removed(passenger side)

remove throttle body....another 4 bolts(10mm?)....plus 2 connectors....

reverse these steps to put back together...

might want to look into changing the spark plus also if this has never been done....warning they're a big PIA....

BG products makes an excellent intake cleaner that will not damage to the inside coating....used by many dealerships.
