F150 Longevity

Hey, im new to the forums but i've read through a few posts over the last couple months, i'm debating on buying a V8 F150 with 300 some odd thousand miles, how do the engines hold up at this point? i know the I6 will run until it finally rusts through (and recently rolled my friends bronco back to 0 miles again), long term i plan on a diesel swap (debating a 4BT or maybe a mitsubishi UD) but for now i'm in college (training to be a heavy duty diesel mechanic) but i need a pickup.

any thoughts?

Really depends on how it was maintained. 300k is allot of miles no mater how you slice it.

reguardless the frame and all the other parts would have me worried... 300k would steer me away in a heartbeat...

I am a huge fan of the durability of these trucks and engines but personally I would pass on one with 300,000 miles. They can go more for sure but the transmission and other components are pushing it for sure. If I owned it from new and took care of it it would be a different story.

okay, thank. i believe it's a 1994 With the V8, sorry it took so long to get back it's been a long week.

The main reason i was thinking about the truck is because it's $600, and the engine will probably be replaced within a couple years anyways.

Damn, -I didn't know. Seems like everyone here has something against my truck

Ahh, what do they know anyways, -just jealous is all

300,000 miles isn't that bad. At least I hope not. She's never run better, seriously. Unfortunately, born in Michigan and didn't miss to many winters so, she sure has looked better, -tell yuh that right now.

However, it's a lot to consider without a background check.

If it's a 94, it has a 302 or 351, and at 300k either one is just about done. You may not get a couple more years out of it.
