bad shaking at 1100 rpm

It is not a driveline problem. It may be a bad coil. My Edge programmer is not picking up any error codes. My 4X4 mechanic checked it out and thought it was a bad coil but without the codes he could not easily determine which one. I can't stand driving my truck because some times it runs fine and then without warning it will shake my fillings out at about 1100 rpms or accelerating from 45 to 55 mph. It is not suspension related. All of my suspension is new and it was checked out thoroughly.

I thought it might be fuel related. I added Chevron Techron fuel cleaner this weekend after replacing the fuel filter along the frame rail. The truck will sit all week. I was hoping it was ethanol related condensation. The truck ran well this morning but when I drove it after being ion the gym for a couple of hours it repeated the shakes.

I would hate to go to the dealer without a clue and spend too much. I would love to fix the problem myself, if possible.

Any advice?

What year, what engine? How many miles on the spark plugs, and what brand are they? How many miles on the truck?

Sorry. Got sidetracked at work. 2001 F150 4X4 Flareside with 5.4 L V8, almost 181,000 miles. Plugs are motor craft and were replaced on June 25, 2012, as were the boots and valve cover gaskets. The #2 coil was replaced at that time too.

Thanks.
