No Oil Pressure at Cold Startup

2001 F150 4.6 So... If it's cold out (below freezing) I have no oil pressure at idle, gage shows pressure if I rev to above 1500 RPM. If I let it go back to idle it shows no oil pressure again. If I hold it at higher RPM it will start showing oil pressure at idle after a minute or so. Then no problems the rest of the day. It just started doing this in the last couple days, just as it started getting cold here.

Oil is not low & I just changed it a couple weeks ago, no sign of water in the oil.

Ideas?

1st off did you put in the correct weight of oil? if you did i would verify your issue with a manual gauge. if that shows good then check your oil psi sensor and wiring. if the gauge confirms your problem then you may have an oil pump issue or regulator.

If you had no oil pressure, the engine would be knocking. Replace the sending unit.
