f150 stalls after water in gas
I have a 2004 F-150 with approximately 90,000 miles on the odometer. It has been properly maintained.
In the wake of Hurricane Sandy, when gas was scarce, I filled up with a mix of gas and water. The result was engine shut-down. The fuel pump was replaced and the engine seemed to run ok until it warmed up, at which point the rpms flipped back and forth between 600 and 1200. I ran a couple of tanks of 93 gas through the engine to clean out the injectors, but the problem persisted. Gas tank additives like Drygas did nothing to fix the problem nor did chemical cleaning of the injectors. The engine light is lit and the error code indicates that the mixture is too lean.
After a couple of weeks things got worse with the engine stalling at low rpms requiring me to take the truck out of gear at every stop while feeding gas to the engine to keep the rpms up. That led to replacing the idle valve but the problem persists. The truck is virtually unusable as it is. Also, there was no problem before water got in the gas. Ideas please. I’m out of business without my truck.
