ML:The feuds over. My hostility is not towards you, Ford, or anyone in particular. It is towards a large company trying to pull a fast one on consumers and then trying to justify it. By the look of all the posts on the topic, I can see that lots of people have experienced this problem, with varying degrees of success. Thanks to all who posted replies, but I've got to go do some growing up now...or so I'm told. Later.

Cool

Don't worry about me guys, I just got my official prize notification in the mail today. As it turns out, it seems I am the winner of $833,337.00 in the Sports Illustrated Sweepstakes and I will soon receive a check for the entire amount via registered mail! And you think I'm naive...

Gotta go, someone's at the door, maybe it's the mail man....

I have experienced cold start noise on an intermittent basis since new.
Now have 7k miles and tried the Fram oil filter for 1k miles only- then back to Motorcraft.
Still have sharp tapping noise for 10-25 seconds SOMETIMES- and it is unpredictable.
Checked VIN and found Michigan made motor.
Anyone else have this experience?
I suspect a leaky hydraulic lifter.

You mentioned in one of your posts that "Ford announced their fix in October of this year." I've been waiting for a fix out west here in Edmonton since the summer of 97. In September I was told by a regional rep that a fix wouldn't be available until January 2000. But since then I've read about some replacements. I'm starting to doubt her word. Is anything in print anywhere about the October announcement? I haven't had time to keep up with digests and all the board messages since summer.
