TSB FOR PISTON SLAP?
Hey all, I was attacked by piston slap when the weather turned cold. My dealer is not exactly cooperating. Can anyone provide me with all of the TSB Numbers for this malfunction. I couldn't locate them on the boards. Sorry to rehash a horrid situation.....

Well, the results are in......new engine for me. I don't really know what to think about that as I am in the car industry and know what the CARFAX report can do to people. With anyluck this replacement will not be reported to Carfax.
Does anyone know if the mismatched serials between engine and body still causes extra depreciation problems?
As always, will keep you informed on Ford's speed and response time.

P.s.....As a hint for those of you who suspect piston slap in your 5.4l. It is a good idea to watch the weather and take the vehicle in the night before. Make sure the dealership starts it upon arrival so that the engine is at its coldest temperature.
This problem seems to get more severe the colder the engine is. Good luck to all of who suffer........

Is this engine a rebuilt one that Ford is putting in? If so how many miles were on your truck when the engine started to fail? Also did you buy the truck new. After your reply I will tell the story of my buddy's '98 F-150 with a 4.6L. I partly talk about some of it in the topic area "engine knock when cold", so check it out and any comments or bulletin #'s would be helpful.

My problem started at around 11500 miles and yes the truck was brand new when purchased. It was a dealer trade and had 531 miles on it, the distance from Ohio to Wisconsin. I will post build dates as soon as I have time to dig around the Engine.
Ford is building my new engine as I type. They say it will take two days to build, 1 to test and approx 7 days later, she will be here. My experience has been pretty good so far. Ford seems to be pretty concerned about the issue, and is making every effort to help me with the problem. Good luck guys.
