Question PCM Modification KA

There is a sticker on the air filter housing of my 97 F-150 with the Trton 5.4 engine. The sticker reads: Ford Approved Modification KA, PCM Reprogrammed."

Anyone knows what mod this is?

Greetings RalphF!!

More than likely, Ford reprogrammed the EEPROM on your OBDII computer with a more current firmware. This was probably done at the factory. They are required by law to make you aware of this via the sticker you saw. The process is similar to upgrading the firmware (or BIOS) on a PC. This was probably done to remedy a computer controlled issue with the engine timing, tranny shifting, etc. Ford is constantly updating the firmware on all their vehicles. You should see a four digit code on the sticker as well. This number indicates your software revision.
